Great to hear your take on Chi Coltrane. I always thought she deserved a bigger career than she had. I love "Thunder and Lighting." Why doesn't another artist associated with one hit, Joan Osborne, record it?
I haven't listened to that much Judy Collins and I often find her a singer that I respect more than connect with but, "In The Heat Of The Summer" is great -- the immediately works for me. I'll need to explore your other recommendation. At first listen "Suzanne" isn't as viscerally satisfying, but that may be that I'm so used to Cohen's version.
In terms of singers demonstrating glee at the word "Ass" I'll also mention Dame Shirley Bassey's charming cover of the P!nk song, "Get The Party Started" -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gC4i7s8mQOM

Why indeed - I bet she would do a great job on it.
I'm going to be writing about Judy, so I'm delighted to see this post and be reminded of how wonderful she is.
Oh, awesome - looking forward to reading your piece when it comes out!
Thank you for the kind mention, and the post.

I had the Pleasure to see them both at „Winterthurer Musikfestwochen“ in the late 70ties.
Chi Coltrane played a lot in Switzerland back then.
