Excllent stuff, Robert -- 'Heyoke' is a particularly nice discovery for me. To add to the list, I think some pieces from Debussy are wonderfully autumnal.
Thanks Robert, not only for your engaging writing (as always), but also for taking the time to put together such a wonderful and diverse list of songs. I’ve created a Spotify playlist that I can then use to go back and explore the individual albums; looking forward to that.
I’ve never really experience Autumn as we pretty much only have two seasons in Bermuda. But after retiring in June, since which my wife have been hiking for 3+ months, I’m looking forward to experiencing Autumn (our hiking winds down in a couple weeks and we’ll be spending time in the UK and Europe). Having a playlist to accompany me during my first Autumn since my college days (in Canada in the early 90s) will be lovely.
Brilliant playlist and commentary. I share your feelings about the autumnal character of ECM. Ralph Towner’s Solstice and the Danish String Quartet’s Last Leaf are two of my favorites of the season. May I also suggest Sandy Denny and Nick Drake as two sublime and melancholy voices of Autumn. As I jot down these comments I’m listening to Jethro Tull’s Songs From the Wood and Dead Can Dance is up next. Cheers!

Thanks, William. Oh yes - Debussy is good this time of year, absolutely. Excellent choice.

Thank you, Mark, I'm so glad. Your very thoughtful note has made my day. Hope you enjoy this autumn season.
I love autumn too. It's a special time.
You really got me with that David Crosby song. Wow, didn't know which instrument to follow and want to relisten to the song and hear the entire album.
The whole Crosby album is amazing - a classic, really unique and loaded with the best of the Laurel Canyon - San Francisco scene.
Wonderfully eclectic playlist, Robert. I also enjoyed your comments about your choices.
Thanks so much for the kind words!
Terrific autumnal musings!
Thank you, Marco!
You are welcome Robert. Enjoy NYC!
I am - New York is my kind of town. Love this city and excited to be here once again.
