Sylvia was a terrific rock vocalist as well. Check out her vocal on CC Rider that was filmed as part of the Festival Express documentary circa 1970. I believe Ian was on electric guitar there along with guys from Flying Burritos and New Riders. It was definitely Sylvia's moment.
She can sing the blues and rock in a way that Ian couldn't. Definitely part of how they complemented each other. I mean to watch 'Festival Express' some day!
That's a fine tribute to them, Robert! I had all those albums and more, and have played and sung many of their tunes over the years. Another song of Ian's that I love is "These Friends Of Mine", which he did solo on "The Lovin' Sound" (at least as I recall). It captured something wonderful in his voice. He was a very good songwriter!
You're very welcome - glad you liked it! Agreed, Ian Tyson was a great songwriter (and a great singer!) - he was, by many accounts, a rather gruff guy but you can tell from the songs, that he felt deeply.
Niiice - right down my alley! Thanks for this great issue, and presenting this great duo 👏 I think, I'll be listening to "Play One More" on repeat all day long
